F.A.Q.
How do I disable the sequencer when external clock is selected?
By default, the sequencer is armed to play when external clock is selected in the master clock synch mode settings. The Play button is lit to indicate that the sequencer is armed. To disarm or turn off the sequencer just press the play button. Now you can send MIDI notes to play the synth instead of transposing the internal sequencer.
How can I use USB MIDI on Windows 10?
Connect the Typhon to your computer. Go to “Bluetooth and other devices settings” and under “Audio” check if Typhon is available. Open your DAW and from the MIDI settings you should find Typhon. Enable it and you are ready to go.
How can I use USB MIDI on macOS?
Connect the Typhon to your computer. Go to “Audio MIDI Setup,” press Window –> Show MIDI Studio, and check if Typhon is available. Open your DAW and from the MIDI settings you should find Typhon. Enable it and you are ready to go.
How can I use USB Audio on Windows 10?
The Typhon can be used as an Audio input device with your computer, and from your DAW settings you can select it and record it right away. Unfortunately, with Windows you can’t have 2 different sound devices (like a Typhon and your sound card or interface) running at the same time, so if you select a second device, like your soundcard to listen to Typhons audio, there may be a very noticeable latency. The only workaround at the moment is to use the ASIO4ALL driver. After downloading and installing it, you can read the following article on how to set it up properly. Understand that the Typhon can support the lowest buffer available without glitching. This way you can lower down latency a lot without problems. https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/installing-and-using-asio4all-for-windows/
How can I use USB Audio on macOS?
On the mac OS, go to “Audio and MIDI Setup,” press the “+” button on the lower left corner of the screen, and select “Create Aggregate Device”. This way you can select the Typhon as an audio input as well as any other input and output audio devices you have available on your computer. For further reading on aggregate audio devices please read: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/aggregate-audio-devices-and-drivers-for-pc-and-mac/
Why can’t the Typhon connect to my computer?
The Typhon is recognized as 2 different devices depending on what state it is in:
1) the Bootloader state or
2) the Normal Operation state.
Bootloader state
When powering up your synth, the two startup screens (Dreadbox and Sinevibes logo) appear.
At this point you can interrupt the startup sequence by pressing the SQNCR button, and the Typhon will enter the Bootloader state which is only used to update the Typhon firmware.
Normal Operation state
The second state is the Typhon’s normal operation state.
This state is the one that follows after the startup screens, and it’s the state that you use to normally play the synth. While in this state connected to a computer, the Typhon is recognized as a MIDI and Audio device and can also be used to backup and restore your presets.
Please note if there is more than one application running that tries to use the Typhon as a MIDI device, it might not work properly. Also important to remember, the Typhon might not work properly when connected through a USB hub.
Why does my Typhon show the startup screens and then stay dark?
The Typhon won’t fully boot to the main firmware if it can’t properly tune itself, or if the firmware has somehow become corrupted. You can try to connect it to a different power supply, with at least 1Amp output, and see if this fixes the issue. Additionally, from the startup screens you can press the sequencer button to engage the bootloader mode, and the synth will show the “WAITING TO CONNECT” message. From there you can try to do an update right away. The only problem is that you might lose your presets if you haven’t already backed them up.
My Typhon is very noisy what can i do?
The Typhon will become noisy if connected to a computer and to a soundcard connected to the same computer because this will create a ground loop. To eliminate that problem you can use Typhons USB Audio or a USB splitter. Mind that the splitter might not work for all versions of Typhon.
The ones tested to work properly are the ones after SN:4000.
If you have a unit with a lower SN and you have experience in soldering, you can follow these instructions by EnochLight
Why there isn’t a screen to help simplify the UI?
For optimal cost efficiency reasons. Also because of the worldwide chip shortage, which makes some parts hard to be found.

Is there an USB/AUDIO implementation?
No, the unit’s signal flow is 100% analog. It is also the reason why the Reverb can only have a 50/50 mix at max setting.
What are the output jack specs?
Unbalanced TS mono cable. You can also get the normal audio out of the headphones with no issues.
Headphones need a TRS stereo cable (the sound is yet mono) but can also be used with a TS mono cable.
Is it normal that the raw oscillator sounds a bit wobbly or out of tune?
Yes, but to the following range. It should be +/- 5 cents out of tune and +/- 1.5 cents wobbly.
In another case contact support.
Is it normal to have a drone sound on the background, when the controls of the reverb are in extreme settings?
This is normal, as this reverb allows for some extreme settings. If you do not like this, just keep the controls in lower setting especially the decay amount.
Is it normal to have constant background noise?
Change the power adapter. Check the manual on “Power considerations”. If it is powered by a computer, a USB DATA/POWER might be needed. This accessory will be soon available in our e-shop.
Why Nymphes is not responding to my keyboard?
– Perform a Global settings reset ( on power up hold down SHIFT+MENU for 5 seconds). This will set up your synth MIDI channel to OMNI mode.
- Also make sure that Preset A1 is something that can produce sound.
- Try loading more presets
– Make sure that the correct DIN5 (MIDI) to 3,5mm jack adapter is used. Dreadbox is using theMIDI.org suggested adapter. Arturia adapters will not work on Nymphes.
I am having a hard time using the slider controls between normal and Shift modes. Is there another way to do so?
Try using a different slider control mode ( rotary 7 sub menu- 3). By default Nymphes is on Jump mode, but you can choose the Catch mode instead. In the future, more modes will be added.
How can i use the filter as an oscillator?
– Turn all oscillator source LVLs to 0%.
– Then on the filter set CUT to 0%, RESON to 100%, and TRACKING to 100%.
– Also set EG and LFO to 0% for no modulation.
Why can't I power Nymphes up?
Check the manual on “Power considerations”. Also make sure that your adapter is 1A rated and that you are using a good USB cable.
Why does not the chord slider affect the sound?
Chord will not have an effect if you are playing on POLY or MONO mode.
Why is Nymphes out of tune?
Let Nymphes warm up for 10 minutes, then hold down MENU+SAVE for 2 sec. This will initiate an autotune.
The autotune needs about 1 minute to be completed. Once this is done, Nyphes should be stable without the need for an autotune.
Can I master tune Nymphes to 432Hz?
Yes, by using the FINE TUNE found on the submenu. You can master tune up to +/- 4 semitones.
Can I microtune Nymphes ?
Nope, sorry.
How often should i autotune my Nymphes?
We only suggest you to tune it once every time you change its environment. Other than that, the unit is pretty stable.
What can I do to avoid the loud pop ,when I power up Nymphes?
Just turn the volume of the unit down while powering it up.
Can i make a silent autotune?
Yes, by turning the volume down.
As there is no power switch, can i leave Nymphes constantly on power?
NO! and again NO! Bad for the enviroment and bad for the electronics. As a matter of fact, every electronic device that is not in use should be turned off or be unplugged. Electronic components have a life circle and the planet does not like you to spend resources for no reason.
Why there is not a power switch on Nymphes?
Simplicity, cost effective and really no need to have one. Just unplug the power USB from the back.
Can i export my user presets?
Not yet, this will be allowed on Firmware v2.
Does Nymphes respond to Polyphonic aftertouch?
Not yet, this will be allowed on Firmware v2.
Can I control Nymphes with MPE?
Not yet, this will be allowed on Firmware v2.
